The Studio on your Doorstep

Scottish product photography including pet food dog chewy bone snack

We recently had the opportunity to work with pet food brand, Calibra, shooting packshots of their full range of stock, as well as a variety of lifestyle images. We thoroughly enjoyed designing the kitchen and pantry sets for the target customer, and working with some lovely 4-legged subjects, but our highlight was traveling to Dumfries to be closer to our client.

Not based in Glasgow?

Our goal is to make the process as streamlined and effortless for our clients. Calibra is based in Dumfries and, with 300 lines to shoot, we wanted to make product delivery as simple as possible.

We packed our studio and the sets into the van and hired a studio nearby.

The ability to move our full studio setup to a location that works best for our clients is important to us. We believe success in a shoot comes with the adaptability to always find a practical solution.

Launching a New Product? Here’s Why Great Photography Matters More Than Ever

Launching a new product is a big moment for any business. You’ve spent months developing it, refining the branding, perfecting the packaging, and getting everything ready to go live. But once it’s finally out in the world, there’s one thing that shapes people’s first impression almost instantly — the photography.

Whether you’re launching a new whisky, canned cocktail, skincare range, coffee brand, or consumer product, strong visuals help people stop scrolling and actually pay attention.

At Plinth Studio, we create drinks photography and product photography in Glasgow for brands that want their products to look as good as they deserve to.

People Judge Products by Their Photos

It sounds obvious, but it’s true.

Before someone reads your product description or checks the price, they look at the image first. If the photography feels cheap, rushed, or inconsistent, people notice — even if they don’t realise they’re doing it.

Good product photography instantly makes a brand feel more professional, more trustworthy, and more premium.

It can also make a huge difference to:

  • Online sales

  • Social media engagement

  • Website conversion rates

  • Brand recognition

  • Press coverage

  • Retail listings

  • Advertising performance

When you’re launching a new product line, your images are often doing the selling before anything else.

Why Drinks Photography Needs a Specialist Touch

Photographing drinks properly is harder than most people think.

Glass reflections, condensation, lighting, labels, liquid movement — there’s a lot going on in a single shot. Done well, drinks photography makes a product feel cold, refreshing, luxurious, dramatic, or handcrafted. Done badly, it can flatten the entire brand.

At Plinth Studio, we specialise in drinks photography for brands across Scotland, creating clean, striking imagery for everything from whisky and gin to craft beer and canned cocktails.

We focus on making products feel tactile and real — the kind of images that make people want to pick the bottle up off the shelf.

Your Product Photos Need to Work Everywhere

These days, your images aren’t just going on one website.

A single product launch might need photography for:

  • Ecommerce stores

  • Instagram and TikTok

  • Paid ads

  • Amazon listings

  • Trade press

  • Packaging mockups

  • Email campaigns

That’s why it’s important to create a strong set of versatile images from the start.

Professional product photography gives you a full library of content you can use across your entire launch campaign, instead of scrambling for assets later.

Why More Brands Are Investing in Professional Product Photography

With so many businesses selling online now, competition is intense — especially in food, drink, and lifestyle industries.

Professional photography helps brands stand out in crowded spaces where customers are making split-second decisions.

It also helps with Google rankings more than people realise. Optimised images can improve:

  • Time spent on your website

  • Click-through rates

  • Image search visibility

  • Overall user experience

So while photography is obviously about making products look good, it also plays a part in your wider SEO and marketing strategy too.

Based in Glasgow, Working With Brands Across Scotland and the UK

Plinth Studio is based in Glasgow and works with drinks brands, startups, creative agencies, and product-based businesses looking for premium commercial photography.

Some clients come to us before launch while they’re still developing packaging. Others need a fresh set of visuals for a rebrand, campaign, or seasonal release.

Either way, the goal is always the same — create images that feel polished, distinctive, and genuinely aligned with the brand.

Thinking About Launching a New Product Line?

If you’re preparing to launch something new, investing in good photography early makes the whole process smoother.

You’ll have stronger marketing materials, better social content, and a more professional launch from day one.

And honestly, it’s a lot easier to build excitement around a product when the visuals already look incredible.
